Asia Pacific Ball

1. Zarique asked the UMIST Committee whether they would like to join us on this venture.

2. Shi Yun (UMIST President) declined our offer based on the following reasons:

   1. The menu. The main concern here is non-halal food.

   2. The cost. They believe that their members would not be willing to pay sum for the Ball. They proposed to have an Annual Dinner.

   3. The response. They believe that they would not be able to get response from their members.

3. After much discussion, MSS Owens Committee urged the UMIST Committee to have a private discussion to make their final decision.

Malaysian Night

1. UMIST Committee brought up the subject of Malaysian Night that has been held annually.

2. Zarique informed them that we do not plan to have it this year based on the following reasons:

   1. The Venue. It is difficult to obtain a venue especially FOC and the International Office has informed us that we would not be able to use Whitworth Hall.

   2. Entertainment and Props. For the past years it has been the Architecture students who were in charged of this but there are no Architecture students this year and this would prove to be a problem.

3. As an alternative, we plan to have a Graduation Ball cum Annual Dinner next year.

Activities to be held jointly with UMIST

This is the amended version after the UMIST Committee private discussion.

Disco at Royales

1. Date: 19^th/20^th of November, 1999 (to be confirmed)

2. Venue: Royales

3. Time: 10.30pm-2.00am

4. Ticket Price: to be confirmed.

Cheshire Oaks Shopping Trip

1. Date: 4^th. December, 1999

2. Time: 10.00am to meet at Student Union (to be confirmed)

Asia Pacific Ball (after UMIST private discussion)

1.  UMIST Committee informed us that they are not joining us for the Ball and they are going to proceed with their Annual Dinner.

2. They also informed us that the only two activities that they are joining us are the Disco and the Cheshire Oaks Shopping Trip.

Activities to be KIV (Keep In View)

Edinburgh Trip

1. The UMIST Committee believes that it would be very difficult to get accommodation during the Christmas period. Faye has obtained information from the Singapore Society and will be looking into it.

2. One alternative way is to stay at Glasgow and travel to Edinburgh.

3. The UMIST Committee will be waiting for the outcome of our investigation before deciding whether to join on us this venture.

4. Faye to look in to this matter and get back to the UMIST Committee.
